Mederma Stretch Marks Therapy

Some stretch mark cream products simply just not work for everybody. A product like Mederma stretch mark cream, which is popularly known as an effective cure in the treatment of old and new scars, may have a high success rate but is not without its negative feedbacks. It is dermatologically tested with results showing 80% effectiveness out of 100 female subjects, there is that 20% margin of failure.

Mederma stretch mark cream is very appealing to a lot of consumers because it is marketed as an efficient treatment in healing old and new scars brought on by stretch marks, injury burns, acne scars and post operative procedures. The product claims to help diminish the dark appearance of the scars on the skin while improving the texture and enhancing the softness of the skin. It is also easily accessible because you can buy it over the counter in stores like Walmart, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens and Target.

Its key ingredients are: Hyaluronic Acid, Cepalin and Centella Asiatica. The other ingredients are: purified water, Allium Cepa Onion bulb Extract, Peg-4, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Allantoin, Sorbic Acid, Methylparaben.

On closer inspection the only natural ingredient in the list is the extract from the onion bulb and this may be the cause of allergic reactions in some users. There are reported cases wherein the consumer experiences excessive itching when the product is applied in a rubbing motion onto the skin. Another drawback of the product is that you have to prolong its use if you want to enjoy its total benefits. A consumer reports that after she has stopped using the product, her skin did not improve and her acne resurfaced. Although there may be visible results after 2 weeks of use of this product, you may have to extend its use to several months if you are aiming for the total eradication of your scars. But even that kind of result cannot be guaranteed. The clinical testing shows favorable results in the diminishing of new scars but old silvery white scars did not react as favorably.

To get the full effect of the product, you have to apply this on the affected area in a circular motion 3 to 4 times a day, daily for the next 12 weeks. To prevent flaking and to soothe the itch, you must use the product combined with Mederma gel making it an expensive treatment to use.
